My adorable niece turned 4 this month, and for her birthday party theme she asked for a “real” superhero party. “Real” to her meaning not pink! So what is an Auntie to do, but dream up an original comic book superhero birthday party!
For the main backdrop behind the table, (and for several of the printables to boot) I envisioned a comic book “pattern” -with absolutely no licensed characters. It needed to be amazing and dynamic and FAST… so I called up my ultra talented sister for a little help. The rest of the graphics in this printable kit are bright and colorful and really pop against the black and white comic book pattern. With the design under control, I moved on to what to eat, and watched as my other sister (I have a LOT of sisters!) planned the activities for the party guests.
As this was a little kid party, at 10:30 in the morning, we decided breakfast treats would be a smart way to go. The table was set up in the backyard under the biggest avocado tree I’ve ever seen! We used a standard 6ft plastic table, and started with, what else, a white Tablevogue table cloth to for a clean and professional base. We shopped downtown LA for the tulle table skirt and added a wide red satin ribbon on top. A cereal bar with mini popcorn boxes, fruit salad, individual yogurt parfaits and lots of mini muffins fueled our Super Kids right from the get go!
In between snacking (and pouring mimosas for all the parents) the mom of the birthday girl offered some fun things for the little party guests. Starting with capes! You can not be a superhero without a cape,
well, unless you are Aquaman or Green Lantern or Spider-Man or Flash. Anyway, CAPES!
And name tags – your real name and your alias!
And activities! Six age appropriate activities were set up for the kids – and we offered a Superhero Training checklist printable for the parents to make sure they hit every station. (All of these activities, with how-tos, and the checklist are included in our printable kit!)
In addition to the fun training stations, I brought a photobooth. A Superhero Photobooth! You can purchase this printable set of props separately from the printable party kit, and it coordinates perfectly. Attach a cloud themed piece of fabric to a wall or use a photo backdrop stand and Pow! Zap! Adorable, right?
And of course there was cake. An amazing cake also made by the same sister who drew the comic book backdrop. I have to admit, I’m a little jealous.
