We LOVE naked cakes! In fact, its been one of the biggest trends in cakes this year. Tons of bakers have created their own rendition of this deconstructed cake.
The layers of the cake are exposed on the outside, rather than covered with frosting or fondant. In between each cake layer is a generous coating of icing, making it easily visible. These cakes are so refreshing because it gives us a break from the heavy layers of buttercream and fondant. This leaves us with a very rustic and fundamental cake… kind of like the old days. We are no bakers; however, we recently created our very own Rainbow Naked Cake for HGTV.com’s St. Patrick’s Day edition. We used a simple vanilla cake recipe and layered it with colored frosting to give it that rainbow effect.

We could go on and on, and share endless photos of gorgeous cakes with you all, but let’s keep it short and sweet! Here are just a couple of naked cakes that we really love…
