The Easter bunny is coming… the Easter bunny is coming! For those of you who enjoy getting a little crafty with your Easter “baskets” we have a great idea for you. A freezer paper stencil tote bag for the kids to hold their goodies. Lots and lots of goodies.
For our freezer paper stencil tote bag, we started off with a plain white tea towel, and sewed up the sides to turn it into our tote bag. Don’t want to do any sewing? Just grab a ready-to-go tote from your neighborhood craft store.
Here’s what you’ll need to get:
Freezer Paper
Fabric Paint
Foam Paint Brush
Xacto knife
Tea Towel to make tote, or plain store bought tote bag
Coordinating ribbon
Light tack tape, like painter’s tape
1. Using your computer, lay out your name and even a little clip art onto a page that will be size according to the tote bag you have chosen. Print this out on plain paper.
.
2. Affix the printout to a piece of freezer paper (shiny side down), and a cutting mat, using light tack tape. Cut very carefully with an xacto knife
.
3. Iron your freezer paper, shiny side down, to your tote so that your design is centered appropriately
.
4. Slip a piece of cardboard, or a few sheets of paper into your tote to make a stiff surface to work on. Use a foam brush with just a bit of fabric paint, to gently dab the paint onto the stencil area.
.
5. When the stencil area is painted in to your liking, wait just a bit for the paint to dry, and carefully peel back the freezer paper from the tote.
.
So CUTE! And if you had a personal die cut machine, like a Cricutor a Silhouette– its even easier to cut the freezer paper. Happy Easter!
