Hey, I love store bought Easter baskets as much as the next mom, but when you have 10 cousins going on an egg hunt at your house, you’ll need to get a little creative with the baskets! We have five ideas here for quick craft Easter baskets, and if you are a craft supply hoarder like me, you might even have these items in your house.
So, grab your glue gun, and your glitter and check out our quick craft Easter baskets!
Fist up, these glittery berry boxes.
What you’ll need:
Berry boxes
Mod podge
Foam brush
glitter
Using Mod Podge, paint the adhesive around the lip of the berry boxes and immediately cover in glitter. Be sure to coat thoroughly. Shake off excess glitter and allow to dry. Fill baskets with anything your heart desires!
.
Next, a retro decoupaged hat box basket.
What you’ll need:
color copies of vintage book pages
Mod Podge
foam brush
kraft paper hat box
ribbon
Grab your favorite children’s book and make some color copies. Rip the pages into smaller sections – no larger than 3 inches square. Following the directions on the bottle of Mod Podge, paint adhesive onto the box, place the torn pieces on top of the wet adhesive and paint again on top of the pieces until the hat box is completely covered. Fill your cute hat box with Easter eggs & candy! Add large bow for a little extra color.
.
And third, these Chinese food takeout “Easter” baskets!
What you’ll need:
Plain solid color “Chinese takeout” food boxes
Round stickers
Plain fortune cookies
Colorful candy melts
Use any takeout food box (we used these pastel “Chinese takeout” containers from our local party supply store) and cover in round stickers to create a polka dot look. Separately, dip store-bought fortune cookies in melted colorful chocolate melts and let dry. Fill boxes with good fortunes and give them to friends!
.
Number four, a fun chalkboard terra cotta pot basket.
What you’ll need:
Terra Cotta pot
Chalkboard paint (either brush on or spray)
Foam paint brush
chalk
Paint any terra cotta pot with chalkboard paint, following the manufacturers instructions (it can take up to 3 coats). After completely dry, rub with chalk, lightly coating entire pot to “cure” the paint. Wipe off excess and plan your art! Write or draw your Easter message with chalk or chalkboard pen and fill with gardening goodies for a fun gift basket.
.
And finally, a quick and simple jute rope covered Easter basket.
What you’ll need:
Jute
Galvanized bucket
Glue dots or hot glue
Wrap jute or twine, starting from the bottom of a galvanized bucket, going up along the side and around to the bottom again to create a handle. Wrap jute around sides of the bucket, occasionally hot gluing (or glue dotting) to the sides. Continue until entire bucket is wrapped in jute and handles are secured. Fill with green grass filler and jordan almonds for an earthy-feeling Easter basket.
