Time for a quick history lesson. Did you know that Cinco de Mayo is celebrated because of the heroic victory of the Mexican Army over the French army in the Battle of Puebla? See where I’m going with this? So, because the French occupied the city of Puebla before their defeat, we now present to you a historical culture-clash Cinco de Mayo cocktail we are calling the “Palomamosa”!
The great thing about this recipe is that you can mix most of the ingredients a head of time. In a pitcher, mix equal parts fresh lime juice, triple sec, and tequila. I squeezed 12 limes in the pitcher and each lime produces about 1 oz of juice.
When you are close to serving the cocktail, top the pitcher with your favorite grapefruit soda, stir and refrigerate. And when you are ready to serve, pour half of the glass with the mix and top it off with a dry champagne. Voila! A paloma meets a mamosa…. a palomamosa!
