I’m not going to say I remember the days of “vintage” drive-ins, but I’ve definitely been to a drive in once or twice in my life. Our real life birthday girl is an actor – like an actual one – on stage and screen, so when she asked for a Drive-In Movie Birthday party, I went for it! She envisioned some retro theater signage as the “feature wall” behind her party treats table, and with my own 50s (ish) furniture pieces we were able to bring it all together.
The table in the center, is a piece that has been in my family for generations! And has been in my party shoots quite a few times (here here and here), because it is just that awesome. The “vintage” stand cooler is a reproduction that is exceptionally handy for all kinds of parties, and the little yellow kitchen chair stool -that is the perfect display- just appeared in my garage one day.
With the furniture in place, adding printable party decorations is the BEST part! A pennant banner across the front of the table, the signage (blue taped) on the wall, even the water bottles had themed labels, and flags on their straws.
Every movie has got to have some popcorn, so we filled several little printable boxes with fresh buttered popcorn. And to adorn the stand cooler, we printed and cut 2″ rounds (would you believe re-purposed cupcake toppers?) interspersed with little concession foods silhouettes, like a tiny delicious pennant banner!
I love adding little personalized signs to birthday party setups – this one had our menu on it. Printable food paper trays (also in our printable kit) held the kids hot dogs in the most adorable way. And the cold sodas in glass bottles? Not nearly as popular as those cake pops! Shaped like ice cream cones, popcorn and tiny soda cups, those cake pops from Bella’s Bakery & Bowtique disappeared in the blink of an eye.
I had to share another photo – they were just. that. amazing!
Three words. Chocolate. Covered. Oreos! Again, the outstanding-and don’t forget delicious-creativity from Bella’s Bakery & Bowtique is showcased in these tiny little sweets.
It came together so perfectly vintage!
