The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays, not just for the fireworks and festivities, but for the chance to bring friends and family together in celebration of our nation’s independence. This year, I decided to bring a show-stopping cake pop centerpiece to our neighborhood block party, and it was a hit! Here’s how I did it…
Crafting the Perfect Cake Pop Centerpieces
For this year’s block party, I wanted to create something that was both delicious and visually stunning. I made cake pops in three delightful flavors: chocolate, lemon, and carrot, all covered in a smooth layer of vanilla candy melts. The variety in flavors ensured there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Materials Used:
- Cake Flavors: Chocolate, Lemon, Carrot
- Coating: Vanilla candy melts
- Lollipop sticks: 6″ and 8″ sticks
- Containers:
- White ceramic planter from Ikea
- Set of three sizes of galvanized plant pots from Ikea
- Support: Green floral foam pieces
- Covering: Rice
- Embellishment: any coordinating ribbon
Steps to Create the Cake Pop Centerpieces:
- Prepare Cake Pops: There are a multitude of how-to videos for making cake pops, the best I have found most recently is on tiktok, you can find her here
- Assemble the Centerpieces:
- Place a chunk of floral foam in the white ceramic planter- you will want it to fill the majority of the space, and be quite a tight fit
- Use floral foam pieces inside each of the three galvanized plant pots so that each is raised above the one below it- also so there is enough of the floral foam to hold the pops around the perimeter of each level of pot.
- Stick the cake pops into the foam to keep them upright.
- Cover the foam with rice to give a clean, finished look.
This centerpiece not only looked great but also added a fun and tasty element to the celebration.
