I have a HUGE family. And in our family, Thanksgiving is always, HUGE. So while most of the guests sit and watch a little football, I like to make sure they have a couple of yummy Thanksgiving Appetizers to choose from. Now, these are no ordinary Thanksgiving Appetizers. They are both very distinct – with one for the grownups, and one for the kids – and both are VERY yummy! We’ve paired our pair of hors d’oeuvres with our set of Mod Fall printable decorations from our shop… festive, right?

For the Kids:
Grilled Muenster Sandwiches
Ingredients:
Sliced sourdough bread
Sliced muenster cheese
butter
bbq sauce
Butter one side of each slice of bread for the outsides of the sandwich. Place a slice of the muenster cheese between the slices, on the non-buttered side. The sandwich can be toasted in a frying pan on top of the stove, under the broiler or in a panini press. I like to pretend my George Forman is a panini press! Cut sandwiches into four pieces and insert a decorative toothpick for easy grabbing. Place a small bowl of bbq sauce on the sandwich platter for those who dare to dip.
.
For the Grown Ups:
Toasty Tapenade with Brie
Ingredients:
Olive Tapenade (recipe below)
Trader Joe’s Sweet & Sour Pepper Jelly or any type of pepper jelly
1 package of mini toasts
1 wedge of brie at room temperature
rosemary sprigs for garnish
Set brie and mini toasts on a platter and garnish with rosemary sprigs. Place a small bowl of the olive tapenade and one of the pepper jelly on the same platter.
.
Olive Tapenade (or buy a jar)
Ingredients:
2 1/2 C mixed pitted kalamata and green olives, drained
2 Tbs capers, drained
1 T chopped garlic
2 T marinated sun- dried tomatoes, drained
1 T lemon juice
1 tsp dried oregano
4 T fresh parsley, chopped
1 T fresh basil, chopped
1/4 C Extra Virgin Olive Oil
black pepper to taste
Throw everything into a food processor. Pulse for a few seconds, scrape down sides of bowl and pulse again. You might have to repeat a few times to get the consistency in the photo. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
