You blink away the sleep from your young eyes and stretch the circulation back into your flannel pajama covered body. Mid-yawn you snap into realization that it is Christmas morning. “What am I doing!?!? I have to wake everybody up,” you think as the wave of nerves and excitement wash over your being. No matter what your Christmas morning traditions entail, those of us that grew up celebrating the holiday know this series of events too well. To prepare for this amazing experience we want to offer some advice on how to use our Cabin-in-the-Woods party set as rustic Christmas decor for an amazing morning celebration!

Let’s start with the cozy set-up. You won’t want to be setting up much early on Christmas morning, am I right? So leave all the planning, cutting and heavy lifting for the days leading up to Christmas.

We made sure we had time to really make these small display areas CUTE! So, a few days ago with started in the corner with a red vintage (reproduction) stand cooler, and layered in plaid flannel yardage leftover from another project (or two), stacked up some old -and new- wooden crates (from another tablescape, or two), a mini Christmas tree and a cute printable sign in a stand up frame.

For the bar cart, we set out everything except the food items – but still put the containers out that would eventually be filled with food. A carafe that would keep the milk hot was adorned with a tag to let everyone know what it was (no, not coffee this time), a printable paper tray for marshmallows, old glass milk bottles for sprinkles toppings and paper cups with lids to make the hot chocolate more mobile. The little wooden shelf was 100% decorative and festive with all of our rustic tree ornaments, glass milk bottles and vintage syrup containers.

Now, for the breakfast table! Again, in the days leading up to Christmas morning, we set up all the details – plaid runner, printable banner, chair covers, ornaments, wood cake stands, and place settings.

Our SUPER cute and festive place settings were comprised of a packet of holiday themed sprinkles, a personalized Santa sour lolli, wooden cocoa spoons, red and white enamelware plates, printable tags, small plaid dessert plates and, of course, plaid napkins.

Once you have the table and all the decor set up, the actual food part on Christmas morning is easy peasy! Homemade or store bought items will look just perfect in the warm and rustic surroundings you have created. We scored some amazing sweets from Meringue Bake Shop! Mini donuts with sprinkles, and cookie cups (yup, peanut butter cookies with chocolate buttercream, sugar cookies with vanilla buttercream & snicker doodles with vanilla buttercream!!). Now, you could eat just sweets for breakfast (as I’ve been known to do on more than one occasion), but you can also add in dishes set up family style on the table, or have guests help themselves buffet style from the stove top.
