P&C Real Life Party: Modern Spa Birthday Party

My niece Lily turned 7 last week, and her only request was that we have a “spa” party. Well, when it comes to parties around here, ask and you shall receive. We wanted to take a different route and shy away from the iconic nail polish bottle graphics and that you normally see in a salon or spa party.

“Modern Girly” is what we like to call our pink & yellow tile pattern design. It worked perfectly for our Lily’s vision, but would also would look amazing for Baby Showers, Brunches, and Sweet Shoppe themed parties.

Our mission is to help you plan and decorate a party that is low stress and easy for you to throw at home. I’ll tell you the truth, we were faced with tackling a location issue for this party – ours was going to be held in a garage. I don’t know about you, but my garage looks nothing like a place where I want to soak my feet and paint my nails. Luckily, it was a clean, wide open space to work with, but nonetheless, a garage. No party is EVER going to be perfect, just roll with it and make it work for you.

The birthday girl gets a little “stage fright” when it comes to her own party, and some of you might have kids that feel this way? It can seem like a lot of pressure to be the center of attention at a party at that age. So, with a limited guest list, we planned multiple hands-on activities for the girls, to keep them occupied and having fun. This took a lot of pressure off of Lily and she was able to enjoy her special day as she should!

Food & Drink

Popcorn was served up in our Popcorn Boxes and we made Yogurt Parfaits for snack-and-go options. We served up some delicious fruit skewers and handmade chocolate covered oreos displayed atop hat boxes we covered in the patterned paper (included in the set). Cotton Candy Lollipops were adorned with our straw/cake pop flags. The cake got a little bunting for some extra cuteness, and we used matching party food labels all around the table. Round cupcake pics were stitched up in a row and paired with our pennant banner on the table front. Little bits of detail were added on the serving pieces with strips of the patterned paper to give it that extra pop of color (see the jar top and parfait stands). The best part about the menu we served up, was that it was allergy free (with the exception of dairy), even the cake! One of Lily’s party guests had allergies to some very common ingredients, so it was very important to her that it be gluten & nut free.

The Real Party & Activities

The girls got to choose their favorite color and sign up for a manicure spa treatment. Lily’s cousin (my daughter) Autumn was more than excited to be in charge here.

A couple of teenage helpers were in charge over at our Hair station. They were experts in hair feathers, chalk, and curling irons. Mini hairbrushes with round tags made sure that each guest got their own.

Crafts galore! We loaded this table up with decorative duct tape, coloring pages, and temporary tattoos!

Each of our little guests received personal party favors including glitter nail files and eye masks that can be cooled in the fridge!

Success! Happy 7th Birthday Lily!
